About Us
Founded in 1996 by Peter Booth, Total Electronic Control Co Ltd brings over 30 years of expertise in laboratory instrumentation and bespoke equipment design. With deep roots in pharmaceutical research support, the company has built a reputation for precision, reliability, and innovation.
Our Founder’s Journey
Peter Booth began his career at Beecham Pharmaceuticals in Surrey, where he became Head of Instrument Services, managing a multidisciplinary team of electronics engineers, mechanical engineers, and a glassblower. This foundation in diverse technical skills shaped his future in advanced laboratory solutions.
In 1996, Peter established Total Electronic Control Co Ltd and dedicated more than two decades to supporting GlaxoSmithKline’s (GSK) research sites in Hertfordshire. Initially brought in to calibrate HPLC analogue-to-digital converters, he went on to manage the calibration of temperature, pressure, flow, metrology, and a wide range of instrumentation critical to inhalation drug research. All work was performed in line with GLP and GMP standards, ensuring full compliance with FDA and MHRA regulations.
Innovation in Flow Cytometry
In 2020, Imperial College London invited Total Electronic Control Co Ltd to design and build a low-cost Flow Cytometer capable of sorting multicellular organisms — something existing high-voltage single-cell systems could not achieve without damaging delicate samples.
After five years of development, the new system is now in use at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and available commercially for laboratory research and mosquito production. The technology also holds potential for sorting other fluorescently labelled organisms (RFP and GFP), opening up new research possibilities.
Our Commitment
At Total Electronic Control Co Ltd, we combine decades of laboratory expertise with a forward-looking approach to innovation. We are dedicated to developing advanced, accessible, and precise instruments that empower scientists and support groundbreaking research worldwide.
